Cloud Reliability Engineer (Azure Admin) @Idella
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Idella is one of the largest pension providers in the Netherlands, processing more than 4.3 million pension claims and 2.2 million payments per year via our secure SaaS platform.
Our culture is open, substantive, and focused on collaboration. The Cloud Reliability Engineering (CRE) team has a clear mission: to increase reliability through engineering. You will join a team where different specialisms reinforce each other, bringing the specific Azure Administration and Infrastructure expertise that completes the picture.
ROLE OVERVEIW
As a Cloud Reliability Engineer (CRE) at Idella, you will be the backbone of our Azure production landscape. You will join the multidisciplinary CRE team—a diverse group where Azure Administrators, DevOps Engineers, and FinOps specialists collaborate to make our production services increasingly reliable and efficient.
Reporting to the Engineering Lead, you will look beyond traditional operations. You are an engineering-focused expert who brings automation and stability to the core of our cloud platform. You will be responsible for the daily management, health, and optimization of the cloud environment, using practical insights to automate repetitive tasks and drive long-term improvements.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Reliability & Operations:
Azure Administration: Take ownership of the day-to-day management of Azure tenants. Monitor resource health, manage access, and ensure the environment remains clean, compliant, and efficient.
Incident Management: Lead incident management when issues arise in production. Conduct blameless post-mortems to identify root causes and drive remediation to prevent recurrence.
Observability: Own and improve the central monitoring, logging, and observability platform, managing Service Level Objectives (SLO) and Agreements (SLA) in partnership with development teams.
Automation & Engineering:
Automating the "Run": Move beyond manual fixes by scripting solutions. Use strong PowerShell skills to automate administrative tasks and reduce manual toil for the entire team.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Maintain and expand the IaC library (using Terraform or Bicep) to perform cloud environment creation and manage shared infrastructure.
CI/CD Enablement: Develop and maintain a "paved road" for CI/CD pipelines to support development teams.
Governance & Optimization:
Continuous Improvement: Translate practical operational insights into proposals for long-term improvements. Collaborate with the Cloud Architect to refine technical strategy.
FinOps & Cost Management: Implement cost controls and alerting. Work with teams to identify optimization opportunities (e.g., right-sizing, shutting down unused resources).
Subject Matter Expert (SME): Act as an Azure SME, providing consultation and hands-on help to development teams while enforcing architectural principles and security standards in production.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
Azure Administration: Strong experience with Azure Administration (more than 3 years) in a production environment.
Infrastructure as Code: Experience maintaining libraries in Terraform and/or Bicep.
Scripting: Strong scripting skills, preferably in PowerShell, to automate operational tasks.
Operational Mindset: A passion for ensuring systems are healthy, stable, and performant today, while actively planning for tomorrow.
Proactivity: Ability to share ideas and provide input based on operational experience rather than waiting for strategy to be handed down.
Language: Good command of English, both verbal and written.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with FinOps principles and cost optimization techniques in Azure.
Familiarity with ISO/ISAE evidence gathering and operational Access Control processes.
Experience working in an Agile/DevOps environment.
Willingness to continuously improve and develop your skill set.
WHAT WE OFFER:
We provide an attractive comprehensive financial and benefits package that supports your career development, work-life balance, and overall well-being.
WANT TO JOIN?
You’ll join a skilled and cohesive team with different expertise. We believe diversity and inclusion create a more engaging workplace, better business results, and innovative solutions.
Of course, we offer competitive terms and great benefits. You will have the ability to grow professionally through internal courses and self-study opportunities through our learning universe. With us, you get both the pleasure of working in an entrepreneurial IT company of a smaller size while benefiting from the power and opportunities it means to be part of a strong technology group.
