New Office in Palas Campus Iași

Double green certification and photovoltaic panels in alignment with Visma sustainability strategy.

This June, we officially inaugurated our very own, brand new office, in the second large-scale urban regeneration project it carried out in Iasi. Palas Campus represents the largest office building in Romania, with a leasable area of 60,000 square meters, out of which Visma will be resting out 1400 square meters.
Our headquarters will be located in the office section of the mixed-use complex Palas Campus, which includes a variety of facilities such as: various lunch-break options, green areas or for a “different” day at work in the office, customized loyalty programs and proximity to the Palas mixed-use complex.

Double green certification and photovoltaic panels

Like other urban regeneration projects carried out by the IULIUS company, Palas Campus has a strong green footprint that goes hand in hand with Visma’s already established sustainability strategy. In 2021, the building benefited from the first green credit granted to a Romanian company by the IFC (International Finance Corporation, member of the World Bank Group), worth 72 million euros.

Palas Campus was built in compliance with the principles of the highest sustainability standards applicable to green buildings, being in the double green certification process:

EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) from IFC; certifies the achievement of resource saving and operating efficiency parameters;
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) of the US Green Building Council; certifies sustainability in design, construction and operation.

The exceptional success of this location can be attributed to a combination of key business strategy elements, one major contribution being the exceptional talent we found in Iasi. From the perspective of local management and external stakeholders, the caliber of individuals we have found here has been truly remarkable. Their passion, dedication, and expertise have laid a solid foundation when growing our third location in Romania. Additionally, our commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment has played a pivotal role in our accomplishments. After two years of working with the Iași IT community, we saw remarkable performance in the market. With its rapid development and growth, Iasi has become one of the leading Romanian tech hubs and one of the fastest-growing in Europe. The market's success can be attributed to the invaluable contributions made by Universities, which have consistently produced a great pool of talented professionals, but also to the constant support of the tech employers. Looking ahead, Visma remains focused on attracting and retaining top talent, all while fostering collaborations within the local tech ecosystem.

The opening of our new office does not come with a mandatory 5 days back-to-the-office policy as we recognize the evolving nature of work dynamics and the importance of flexibility. While we appreciate the advantages of having a new collaborative and innovation-focused office in one of the greenest locations in Romania, we also believe in fostering a healthy work-life balance and supporting our team members in achieving their best work, whether it be in the office or partially remotely.

When creating the concept of our office we aimed to create an environment that blends the Nordic cultural aspect of Visma with the local culture we are very proud of. The design reflects our commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and a sense of community. It incorporates elements that promote open communication, flexible workspaces, and areas for social interaction. Additionally, sustainability is a core value for us, and it was a crucial consideration in choosing the location and the design to align with our commitment to environmental responsibility.

From their way of talking, the Moldavian accent sounds so sweet and warms my heart, to the moral values of the people I’ve met, I was truly captivated by this region when I started working on this project. When it comes to culture, the people we had the honor of interacting with are so genuine and direct, always making their opinions known and standing their ground. Another thing that impressed me was that our colleagues love getting involved and helping out their community. Some of them even started NGOs and charities. The local flavor pallet also helps, as they have quite the delicious cuisine - it doesn't matter if you like borș or tochitura just like the old days, you cannot help but appreciate life and work with a smile on your face after such a lunch. I look forward to my next visit to Iași.

The fact that we have our own home, means that the Iasi team has entered its maturing stage as an organization. We have the extraordinary chance of recreating the Scandinavian spirit in the new generous Visma space, a spirit based on simplicity, minimalism, but always functional and relaxing, which contributes to the nurture of creativity, boosting productivity as an end result. Another fact worth mentioning is that the new Visma location in Iasi, is our main focus in the next stages of our expanding strategy. At the moment we have fifty five colleagues, but until the end of 2024 we aim to double the personnel.
